Ever wondered where these booming startups get their funds? There are nine investment firms leading the pack, and if you have a brilliant idea you might want to give them a call. 

9. First Round Capital

This firm was founded by Josh Kopelman in 2004. It specializes in providing seed funding to tech companies, including Uber, Square, and Mint.com. 

8. Sage LLC

Sage is an independent investment bank that provides advice to consumer product companies, including TOMS, GAP, J Brand, Joie, and Vince. 

7. Permira

Permira is a European firm with a total committed capital of €200 billion, roughly $213 billion. Founded in 1985 by Nicholas Ferguson. They are known for investing in Ancestry.com, Saga, and Dr Martens.

Google Ventures, also known as GV, was founded in 2009 as the VC arm of Alphabet, Inc. with $100 million capital, and they currently have over $2 billion under management. They have developed a five day design process called Design Sprint to help startups solve problems as quickly as possible.

3. Sequoia Capital

Another Menlo Park, CA firm, Sequoia Capital was founded by Don Valentine in 1972. This firm is known for investing in Apple, PayPal, Google, YouTube and Instagram. The combined public market value for these companies is over $1.4 trillion.

This youthful, innovative venture fund was founded by Dave McClure and Christine Tsai in 2010 in Mountain View CA. They are known for investing in CreditKarma and Visual.ly.

Headquartered in Menlo Park, CA, Andreessen Horrowitz was founded in 2009 by Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz. The firm is managing over $4 billion as of 2014 and has been involved with Facebook, Airbnb, Groupon, Foursquare, Twitter and Zynga.
