Tyler the Creator Announces New Album And Artwork For "Scum Fuck Flower Boy"
Who dat boy?! Tyler, the creator, that’s who! Tyler has revealed the artwork for his upcoming fifth album, Scum Fuck Flower Boy, also known as Flower Boy for the conservatives.
The lead single, “Who Dat Boy,” enlists the talent of ASAP Rocky. Tyler also released a co-single called “911/ Mr. Lonely” with help from his old Odd Future partner, Frank Ocean. All of the songs were written and produced by Tyler. While the album cover doesn’t mention any features, besides what we already know about the two singles that have been released, there are rumors that the album features Lil Wayne and Estelle.
“Scum Fuck Flower Boy” follows the release of his 2015 album, Cherry Bomb, which debuted number four on the Billboard 200, number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums, and we met, generally, with positive reception. It was also considered his best musical release to date. Will Tyler’s new album be able to top that? You be the judge.
“Who Dat Boy” doesn’t sound like anything on the radio. Big surprise coming from Tyler, right? The music video for the single has been released on Tyler’s Youtube channel. Tyler walks around a suburban neighborhood with a piece of his face blown off.
ASAP Rocky plays a plastic surgeon who sews Tyler a new face, a new White face. Tyler is chased by the police. Will he be caught? We never know. The video ends with a snippet of “911/ Mr. Lonely.” “911/ Mr. Lonely” has a R&B type feel to it, with Tyler singing vocals, as best as he can. The end of the song changes into more of a Hip-Hop type of groove.
Scum Fuck Flower Boy is due to be released on July 21 by Columbia Records. You can pre-order the album now on iTunes.
