Haus of Gaga rises again this year with new music to fill our ears.
A hopeful breath of fresh air for fans and others alike. It has been approximately four years since the last music album arrived from the artist Lady Gaga. It has been even longer since her eccentric inspirational music has come across our music charts. 'Stupid Love' was released February 28, a precursor to the album release, 'Chromatica'. The album was not a surprise to fans. Lady Gaga had been hinting about new music since her 'Joanne' World Tour. It was only a matter of time before she would announce the release. Fans have been excited and overwhelmed with joy as they looked toward the new music from the innovative artist that would drop in April.
And then COVID-19 came.
The release of the album was postponed, by roughly 7 weeks, due to the pandemic that has reached across the entire world. The album release was scheduled for April, but was pushed back to the end of May. The news devastated both the artist and fans alike. Lady Gaga was not the only music artist to postpone an upcoming album due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Some of these artists have included: Alicia Keys, the Dixie Chicks, and Alanis Morissette. Many artists have taken an uneasy road when it has come to their music production. Some have taken a break from the music making and have stayed at home. Others are making TikToks with their family and friends to pass the time. And some are working toward helping the world heal from the virus that has taken over.
Although her music album release was postponed, her work ethic has not stopped. During April, it was announced that Lady Gaga helped raise over $35 million dollars to be donated to the World Health Organization. She helped organize this funding along with the Global Citizen group. The money was raised to fund for protective gear for health workers and helping find a vaccine for the corona virus. She is one of the few artists who has used her time in a period of need. This may be why when the album is fully released it will be all that much sweeter to our ears.
'Stupid Love' received positive praise when released back in February 2020. Both the music and video are upbeat and energetic. The song is almost a perfect combination of 'Applause', 'Poker Face', and 'Born this Way'. It has the same positive affliction that 'Born this Way' gives us and almost more. It also has that strong beat we remember well from her first hit 'Just Dance', yet it's as refreshing as her 'Artpop' album. This song, so far, represents the evolution of Lady Gaga and her music, which has curated into an inspirational journey. We will possibly see more of this journey when we are able to hear the rest of the album music.
Her album may have been postponed for good reasons, but its release may be right in timing. The decision to have it released later may be what has been needed within the world at the moment. Lady Gaga has long been known for her creative and inspirational music along with her causes tied to it. She has stood by survivors, cultivated a fan base that encourages acceptance, and ally for the LGBQTA+ community.
There was always something more with her and her music. This seems proper for the 'Chromatica' album to be dropped days before June, Pride Month. It will also mark, for some states, the fourth/fifth month of quarantine. Fans will be able to rejoice with new music to listen to as we approach the next stage of quarantine and change throughout the world. We hope that her music will inspire people once again as we begin to feel the weight of the world on our shoulders.
The pandemic has caused chaos and loneliness to set in, but hopefully with uplifting music we may forget some of our troubles. We may find a light at the end of this long tunnel and continue to come together as communities and artists. 'Chromatica' will be the first of many albums to come during these trying times.
During a time such as this, new music to bring hope and inspiration is well needed to all.
'Chromatica' will be released on May 29, 2020.
