Target Will Soon Let You Drink While You Shop
There are many reasons to love Target- a great variety, the convenience of everything you need in one place, and reasonable prices. But if you’re in the right place, you can also enjoy an alcoholic beverage as you shop.
Rumors about the “drink while you shop” idea at Target originally swirled in 2015, the retailer did little to follow up. However, certain Target locations had since allowed the serving of alcohol at cafes. Of those, select branches are allowing customers to leave the café area and shop with their alcoholic beverage in hand.
While the idea of adding alcohol to the shopping experience can be a great way to expand the retailer’s customer base, Target is in no rush to implement the new methods and any widespread change can take a while. Alcohol laws vary by state and in most cases, Target would have to obtain the required licensure and follow the required protocols per state. In some cases, state laws may limit alcohol consumption to designated areas, or may prohibit the serving alcohol on site entirely.
If you’re in the Chicago area, you’ll be waiting less them most as the process is already underway. The rest of us will just have to wait and see what happens in our local stores- though taking a peak at your local state laws will give you an idea of how likely Target is to breaking out the liquor in your area.
