Rumors Virgil Abloh to Replace Riccardo Tisci Givenchy

A few weeks ago the rumor mill was spinning with the possibility that Off-White designer Virgil Abloh would be replacing Riccardo Tisci as Givenchy’s creative director. Many felt it was surprisingly soon after Tisci’s departure to be bringing in a replacement, particularly considering only one week had passed.

Tisci spent 12 years at Givenchy and left a pretty large hole to fill. Abloh, who has served as Kanye West’s creative director, commented only that his “trajectory is to update and provide something new in the fashion industry by way of creating a project and using it as a case study on how to update a luxury house."

Hope so.... 🙏🏾

However, a week or so after the rumors began flying, Givenchy set the record straight. A representative from the house commented that “Mr. Abloh was not approached by the house and is not to join the organization,” and that the “new creative organization will be communicated shortly.”

Many are refusing to give up hope that Abloh will be considered for the role, and are hopeful that his next role will be even bigger than his former projects. Abloh has made his mark on the community, and everyone is anxious to see what he does next.
