Game of Thrones Bar Draws Crowds in D.C.
If you happen to be in Washington DC, or the surrounding area, the Game of Thrones pop-up bar should be at the top of your list of new places to see. The bar consists of several rooms, including an iron throne with picture opportunities, and features drinks like the Dorthrakari, and Shame- which comes complete with your very own “shame” chant.
The staff are usually fans and will play along, or discuss the show with your when you are standing in waiting, and you should definitely be prepared to wait.
Having opened June 21, just in time for the Summer Solstice, and the new Game of Thrones season, the bar drew huge crowds opening weekend with the lines extending to the end of the block when the bar opened on Friday and staying long well until closing. Some highlights include the Hall of Faces, an Iron Throne room, a dragon, and a beautiful dire-wolf statue.
The bar will be open through August for fun and pictures with the exception of Sunday evenings which will be used to view the new Game of Thrones episodes.
If you are trying to avoid the rush, the weekdays are a better bet than Friday or Saturday night, but don’t expect the hype to die down anytime soon.
