“Hi, Queen!”

“Hi my love how are you?”

The sweetest voice came over the receiver. Rubi Rose was at a music video shoot when we got on the phone. No word on if it was her own however, she was ready for a conversation that many have been dying to have with her.

Rubi Rose is climbing her way to the top, after the release of her smash “Big Mouth”- a personal favorite of mine that made me to stumble into her fan club.

The new HITCO signee has accumulated impressive streaming and visual numbers. Without an album, she has been recognized by legends such as LA Reid and Drake.

Her recent rendezvous with the media pushed more eyes on her. This is her first conversation since then. A genuine conversation that made me to realize more than ever why Rubi deserves her roses now.

(Nia) Alright, you ready?

(Rubi Rose) Yeah...Hopefully, I won't say anything crazy.

NR: At the time you were applying for college what was your aspiring career? How did your parents react when you decided on a music career instead?

RR: I came into college wanting to go to law school originally. My mom is a dentist and my dad is a lawyer. They didn’t get that I wanted to take music seriously. My mom was okay with it, but not until I got signed did she understand what was going on.

NR: I saw that you were an English major. What are some books you're currently reading and why?

RR: I don’t love to read and I don't love to write, but I do - because that’s the best way to learn more. I'm trying to reread the Bible. I’m not that religious. I'm trying to understand the principles.

NR: What are some obstacles and career paths you came across while becoming the Rubi Rose you are today?

RR: Being a woman in the industry and having a following before doing the music. It was harder to get people to really take me seriously with what I do. Recently, getting caught up in the media.

This quarantine has pushed back a lot of stuff - such as shows. I’ve learned a lot. After I got signed and LA Reid cosigned, people started to respect me more as a recording artist.

With the media, I’ve learned to be more cautious - and I dead ass need my space and stay away from these little ass boys! Lesson learned!

NR: "Pretty MF" is a definite summer anthem for the ladies, what was it like creating that single? What new music can we look forward to? How are you using your new fame to build the culture?

RR: The producers were in Atlanta, and we really just played around. It’s an old song - it's one of the first songs I did with HITCO. I’m glad you said it’s a summer anthem because I’m actually dropping another song and an album - a new song called “How It Taste”.

For my album expect a few big features, definitely.

NR: Name a few artists you plan on manifesting partnerships with?

RR: Tell Billie Ellish to call me ASAP - I know she’s going to see one of my interviews one day.

But of course, Nicki Minaj.

Everybody - I love most music but those are my top 2.

NR: Anything you want to leave us with?

RR: “How It Taste ” comes out soon and visuals!!!
