What Kind Of Traveling Is Safe During Covid? What Are Some Good Scheduled Hot Spots?

Answer, No kind of travelling. Just kidding.

There are definitely ways of exploring your surroundings and broadening your horizon’s without putting yourself at risk for exposure. As someone who has flown 12 times during this pandemic for various essential reasons, I can tell you that the experience is far from ideal.

Noses peaking out over masks in still crowded terminal’s, the hassle of going through security with all your PPE, and of course the strange loophole by which you can be mask-less in a plane as long as you’re eating and drinking. Which for some fliers is always.

So how do you travel without wings? Well one option would be to trade your physical reality for a virtual one.

Virtual Reality systems are becoming more and more sophisticated with every iteration. Oculus is notable for being among the first to produce a headset that doesn’t need any additional consoles or computers, and PS VR (which is sure to soon land on the PS5) offers a wide variety of console quality games.

VR Chat, a web forum that takes place over a variety of larger-than-life backdrops, allows for a user to adopt the look of their favorite pop culture character and fraternize with other housebound individuals. Syrmor on YouTube has created an entire channel dedicated to the interesting, and often times harrowing stories, of the people he meets inside the game.

But if you’re committed to braving the outside world for a long-repudiated adventure, then there are a few options available to you. One that I have particularly taken to is paddle boarding.

All the accoutrements of surfing, all the mobility of kayaking, and the ability to travel the still waters of any nearby lake or ocean in perfect isolation. I’ve hit the waves bearing books, food, and yoga blocks, all to relative success. Do not bring any books that you don’t want to lose is all I’ll say.

Finally, if you’re adversed to the aquatic and digital alternatives, there is a tried-and-true way to travel safe and infuse your everyday surroundings with an aura of mystery and synchronicity. It’s called Randonauting, and it’s just as weird as it sounds.

After downloading the Randonautica app you’ll be prompted to focus on an intent. Think of it as praying for something you want to find at your destination.

You’ll then be asked to choose a source of “Randomness” and a radius of how far around your current location you’re willing to travel. The app will then give you a GPS coordinate that’s been generated using the hybrid power of your mental intent, and the random source.

Once you travel to your destination keep an eye out for signs of your intent manifested into the real world. People whose intent was love, have reported stumbling upon old high school flames, others who have set their intention on “Dark” or “Scary” have arrived at unmarked graves and dark ally’s. Reddit  features a notable collection of anomalous discoveries by randonauts, few that seem stranger than fiction. That being said, the app does warn you to maintain an awareness of your surroundings and to never trespass or go into hazardous areas to reach your destination.

So here you are thinking that the world has closed it’s doors to your wandering heart, when in reality your ability to traverse the wide open shores of life are wonderfully unimpeded. So go out, have fun, but remember, safety in any form of travel is the utmost priority.
