Performance Vision Summit Scales Historic Eye Care Milestone
The Performance Vision Summit hosted by Children and Vision Development and The Optical Metaverse will be the first eye care event that combines peer and public education in a day-long, global virtual event. Eye care professionals, avid gamers, and anyone who has always been curious about their eyes and vision are encouraged to attend the event on Feb 16 2023 starting at noon US Eastern Time. Replay options will be available for individuals who register for the event but are not able to attend live due to scheduling conflicts and time zone differences.
Vision is one of our most treasured senses. Yet, most people don’t know much about their eyes or how to protect themselves from visually-threatening conditions. Children, teens, and young adults are particularly vulnerable because they depend on their parents for vision care. And yet, children’s vision can shape the rest of their lives; from their ability to excel in school to their ability to choose a career. The Performance Vision Summit is focused on how people use their eyes to perform various daily tasks, including gaming. The event will also help people understand a bit more about how their eyes work together from eye care professionals.
About the Summit: The event will feature discussions about topics including sports vision, performance vision, esports, and binocular vision. Each discussion will be led by a doctor of optometry and other field experts. Doctors of optometry complete four years of optometry school to earn a doctor of optometry and pass a three-part national boards exam plus state licensing in order to diagnose, monitor and treat visual problems as well as eye disease.
Attendees will be able to ask questions live and interact with the eye care professionals via the online platform.
The Performance Vision Summit will be the first of several peer and public education events that have been curated to help people develop a better understanding of their vision and eye health. The event will be sponsored by Hue Lens and EyeQue, with a percentage of the proceeds going to Children and Vision Development.
About the Organizers: Children and Vision Development is a non-profit organization created by Dr. Albert LaMotte, OD with an important mission; to educate the public about the importance of proper eye care for children. The mission stems from the fact that most parents do not know that school screenings and even the basic vision test at the pediatrician’s office can miss a variety of eye and vision problems. Instead, children should receive an eye exam at six months, three years old, at the start of school, and two years thereafter, per the American Optometric Association.
The Optical Metaverse is the first-ever metaverse experience that has been created for eye care professionals and the public. Eye care professionals will soon be able to learn and network in The Optical Metaverse while the general public will be welcome to learn about their eyes and eye care. The Optical Metaverse is located within The Omniverse City, which will serve as home to artists, musicians, and other diverse enterprises.
How to Join: Registration for the event is free for the public and for eye care professionals. Anyone can join the discussion via the chats and event administrators, as well as technical support, will be available to answer questions about the platform and the event lineup.
